French toast was easily one of my favorite weekend breakfasts growing up. When made with whole grain bread, it’s a great breakfast option for the whole family! My go-to french toast bread is cinnamon raisin Ezekiel bread. It’s full of whole grains such as sprouted barley, rye, millet, and oats. It’s also a sweeter toast without any added sugars. I’d recommend giving it a try!
INGREDIENTS
-
2 slices of cinnamon raisin Ezekiel toast (or your favorite bread of choice)
-
1 egg
-
1/4 cup of your milk of choice (whole milk, skim milk, almond milk, oat milk)
-
Dash of cinnamon
-
Optional: vanilla extract
DIRECTIONS
-
Heat frying pan on medium high heat. Once warm, coat pan with oil spray or 1 tbsp of coconut oil
-
While pan is heating, whisk egg on a plate
-
Pour milk, a dash of cinnamon, and optional vanilla extract on another plate and mix
-
Dunk both sides of bread into the egg, then into the milk. Next, place on hot pan
-
Cook for ~3 minutes on each side
-
Top it off with any berries of choice, 1 tbsp pure maple syrup, and more cinnamon
Notes to the recipe:

This recipe is very versatile! It can be made with any leftover bread or any bread of choice! You can also top it with nuts, nut butter, fruit, cinnamon, and maybe even some fresh mint! Be creative with it and enjoy!
