Popcorn is a great snack option that is so satisfying and gives a great crunch! Popcorn is a whole-grain that's low in calories and a good source of fiber. My favorite way to make popcorn is on the stovetop!

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 pot with a lid

  • 2 tbsp avocado oil or extra virgin olive oil (extra virgin olive oil or EVOO has a very low smoke point so, be sure not to cook the popcorn on a temperature that's higher than medium)

  • 1/2 cup popcorn kernels

DIRECTIONS

  • Heat oil in a pot over medium high heat. To test if the oil is warm enough, throw in a kernel or two of popcorn. If the popcorn starts to crackle and pop, you are ready to pour in the rest of the kernels! Keep the lid ajar and listen to all the kernels pop while occasionally giving it a small shake

  • When the sound of the kernels slow down, transfer the popcorn to a large bowl and top off with Himalayan sea salt or Kosher salt!

  • To play up the flavor try adding:

    • Cayenne pepper or chili powder for a spicy kick!

    • Salt and pepper for that salt and pepper chip taste

    • Nutritional yeast for a cheesy feel

    • Sometimes, I dip the popcorn into some hot sauce for a spicy treat! Whatever your flavor of choice is, spice that popcorn up!

ENJOY!
